Maria Richard
Associate
Maria Richard is an associate at Good Government Group, where she supports work at the intersection of public policy, governance, and civic engagement. She brings a strong foundation in both domestic and international affairs, paired with a deep interest in how policy shapes real-world outcomes for communities.
Raised in Toledo, Maria now calls the Queen City her home. She is a graduate of Xavier University, where she double majored in Philosophy, Politics and the Public and International Studies. Her academic work reflects a long-standing commitment to public service, law, and ethical governance, all of which she has pursued through hands-on experience in legal, advocacy, and community-based settings.
Before joining Good Government Group, Maria worked as a Legal Assistant at Allen Law Firm, where she supported attorneys through client communication and case preparation. She also interned with the Guardian ad Litem Unit at the Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office, conducting legal research and assisting with case reporting in support of child advocacy efforts.
Maria’s interest in global affairs and community engagement was further shaped through her work with The International Center of Greater Cincinnati. There, she collaborated with community partners, assisted with programming and events, and observed ESL classes serving immigrant communities. These experiences strengthened her understanding of global mobility and the local impact of international policy.
At Xavier, Maria held leadership roles including President of Club Tennis and Vice President of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active by playing tennis and going to the gym, reading whenever she can, singing, and trying new recipes.
